Peace is far away in Assam Nagaland border

In a recent update Nagaland government has inaugurated a new Sub-division in B-sector of Golaghat district. To date the neighbor state is aggressively opening new subdivisions throughout the entire 500 km of Assam Nagaland border but govt of Assam is failing to curb the situation till today. Since the creation of Nagaland in 1963 Assam is badly suffering from Nagas incursion in to Assam territory demanding border areas, forest lands, paddy land etc. Lots of massacres occur during 1979, 1985 and 1910 in border areas maximum in Golaghat district. The Nagas are behaving like a foreign country towards Assam.

            During Ahom kingdom the Nagas were dominated by Ahom kings.They were allowed to cultivate in particular areas in Assam which were called KHATS and they have to pay annual tax for that ; but now on the contrary the Nagas are demanding the KHATS and is surrounding areas arguing that they historically owned the KHATS and AHOMS paid tax to them.

            By the way the historical demand of Nagas have no proof in black and white and the Indian constitution does not allow and any incursion by neighbor state to Assam’s territory. Here the controversial role of Centre in the name of so called talks with extremist groups like NSCN is again burning the situation in this area. In near future will Centre be ready to talk with other extremist groups like NSCN to fulfill their demands which will clarify her attitude to resolve the burning issues of North-East?
